Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Nurburgring record 7:22.68 / 2011

The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 sets a new record with a lap time of 7:22.68, which is a 20 seconds improvement on the Corvette ZR1. At its launch, a lot was said about the various updates that have been done to the Z06 to validate the car’s performance and its prowess on the race track. To prove this fact, Corvette Nurburgring was initiated. The Corvette engineer, Jim Mero, took the brand new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 to the German race track to set the record straight – and he did just that. The supercar, fitted with the chassis package of Z07 performed exceptionally at the track, adding to the existing Nurburgring times with its 7:22.68 lap time.

For race enthusiasts, you’ll recall that this lap time is 20 seconds faster than the former record lap of the older Z06, which was set in the year 2005. It’s also worth noting that the new record is just three seconds slower than the fastest Nurburgring times set by ZR1 time.
