Want some speed? A pity the Agera One:1 is already sold out!

The Agera One:1 is a masterful construction built entirely to get as much power and speed out of the model as possible. How fast is it? Theoretically, it should be able hit 273mph, and goes from 0-100km/h in 2.8 second, 0-300km/h in 12 seconds, and 0-400km/h in 20 seconds.

Oddly, Koenigsegg spokesman Andreas Petre stated that they didn’t set out with speed as a main goal in the model’s design and production. Instead, Koenigsegg was approached by a Chinese distributor who asked them to specifically make a Koenigsegg-styled track car for an elite group of ready buyers. Koenigsegg agreed, with the caveat that the model would remain street legal.

We had to decrease the weight,” said Petre, “increase the power significantly, include all the goodies, air conditioning, stereo, central locking, ESP, ABS, electric windows… all these things had to be integrated into the car and make it lighter.”

Beyond the company’s own R&D model, only six other cars were ever produced—each one snapped up almost immediately (if not already pre-ordered). The name for the Agera One:1 comes from the fact that the model boasts an ideal ratio of one hp per kg, and is the world’s first homologated production car to produce a full Megawatt of power.

The Agera One:1 boasts an upgraded version of the Agera R’s 5.0 liter, V8 engine, as well as a titanium exhaust system, larger venting, a triplex suspension with carbon bevel springs and active shocks, and a wing configuration that produces 600kg of downforce.

As far as confirming that theoretical 273mph speed, Petre says: “We’d like to do a top speed run but it’s not a priority. I think a track time is much more important. I mean, the Nürburgring is the only lap time that really counts. I mean, if we also had access to the NASA landing strip in the US, we’d probably go at least as fast as that Venom GT.”

What can be expected from Agera down the road? They’re developing a 2015 Agera model that Petre calls a “facelift” that will feature much of the One:1 technology, letting the overall concept evolve slowly over time. Look for it at the Geneva show next year!
